X- Men Origins: Wolverine

X-men Origins: Wolverine is directed by Gavin Hood and has an interesting cast including Liev Schrieber, Dominic Monaghen, Ryan Reynolds, Scott Adkins (if you don't recognise this name then look out for him in the future, he is a superb martial artist and an up and coming future action star) and Starring Hugh Jackman as Logan or if you prefer, Wolverine.

I was looking forward to this movie a lot, I have seen the X-men trilogy several times and i enjoyed them all thoroughly, including the third one, which seems to be the least favourite among the fan's. So it's fair to say that i had high expectation's.
The movie started of action packed with some exceptional war scenes. Just imagine Saving Private Ryan with wolverine on the front line! We get introduced to Logan's brother Victor, and some other mutants that are all part of a team that do battle together. Victor though, seems to have some issue's, he is excessively violent and lands the pair into trouble with his behaviour on occasion's. Logan after many year's, tires of this life style and and with another excessively violent moment by his brother, decides to leave the group and start a new life.

But unfortunately, early on in the movie we get a sense that Origins would not be up to par with the X-men movies. The special effects did not look as impressive and i thought the movie was over loaded with too many mutants/villains. There is however some stand out action scenes, highlighting, in particular, an exhilarating helicopter/motor bike chase.

I think what we get is a comic book adaption which would be entertaining to someone with no X-men knowledge and would suffice as a mindless summer Blockbuster. To the fans however, i would say a huge let down because their is such a following for this character, it could of been so much better but there is too much style over substance and it feels like more of a character spin-of than a prequel.

Not a travesty but certainly does not meet the expectation of a thorough super hero movie.
